A while back I made a big business shift…
I fired my calendar.
And auditing and archiving my time is always one of the best practices in my career.
Let me explain.
Like most high-achieving Loan Officers, my calendar was PACKED.
Every hour color-coded.
Fully time-blocked.
Zero “white time”.
It looked productive…
But it was a lie.
Because what I had created wasn’t a system for focus -- it was a shrine to busywork.
I realized that I was in meetings I didn’t need to be.
Admin tasks I shouldn’t be doing.
Gaps filled with stuff that looked important but made ZERO difference to my bottom line.
So I did something crazy:
I deleted everything.
And rebuilt it from scratch.
But this time, I used one question to guide every time block:
Will this activity directly move the needle on revenue, referrals, or reputation?
If the answer was a HECK NO?
It didn’t go on the calendar.
BYE BYE.
A week before, I had my wife throw out ALL the candy, chips, coca-cola, and other sugary crap.
This time-energy audit for my calendar was like the same thing: removing all the “unhealthy” items from my calendar.
I started operating from outcomes -- not obligations.
And I gave myself permission to:
✅ Delegate low-value tasks (LVTs)
✅ Say "no" to unproductive meetings
✅ Protect deep work time like it was an actual loan lock deadline
Within 30 days:
✅ My pipeline grew
✅ My stress dropped
✅ My clarity shot through the roof
AND I AM HAPPIER.
Specifically, because as I am writing you this, I just checked my week thus far and I have been able to drive my daughter to school every single morning this week.
That is winning the week my friends.
So if you’re feeling like you’re working all day but nothing’s moving...
Fire your calendar.
Rebuild it with ruthless intention.
Your business doesn’t need a tighter schedule.
It needs a smarter one.
