Now, let me make one thing clear about me:
I’m NOT one of those guys who hates to admit when their wife is right.
Because she is almost always right.
And one huge piece of advice she gave me once was so accurate:
"You don’t have a business problem. You have a focus problem."
At first, I didn’t really understand.
At second, I was a little bit annoyed.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realized…
She nailed it.
I wasn’t struggling because I needed more leads.
I wasn’t overwhelmed because I needed to work harder.
I was drowning because my time was a mess.
My focus was scattered.
Instead of investing my energy on high-value activities (HVTs)-- content creation, referral building, lead generation, -- I was stuck in the weeds doing low-value activities (LVTs):
👉 Checking emails ALL day
👉 Chasing down borrowers for preapproval docs
👉 Collecting borrower underwriting conditions for my processor
And the worst part?
I see so many Loan Officers doing the exact same thing.
They think they need more time.
They think they need to hustle harder.
When in reality, they need clarity.
They need systems.
They need process.
They need BETTER people.
They need a time and energy audit.
So, take it from me (and my wife)...
Success isn’t about doing more.
It’s about doing less, but doing it better.
I took my yearly income (at the time): $180k
Divided it by yearly hours worked: 2,000
And realized my hourly earnings: $90
So I made a rule:
If I can pay someone $25/hour to do something 80% as good as me….I will delegate it.
Was it scary at first? YES
Was the best decision I made? HECK YES
Where’s your focus right now?
Because if you’re tired of feeling stuck, it might be time to rethink your approach.
