What I used to get wrong about gratitude

There was a time I thought gratitude was just a nice thing to say around Thanksgiving.

“Be grateful.” 

‍

“Count your blessings.”

‍

Yeah yeah. 

‍

But how can it be part of my every day?

‍

Once I stopped treating gratitude like a feeling and started using it like a tool (genuinely) -- my business changed.

‍

Here’s how:

‍

Gratitude = Retention

‍

Your borrowers aren’t just comparing rates. 

‍

They’re comparing experiences.

‍

When you express gratitude intentionally… 

‍

At the initial loan consultation and after the closing…

‍

You deepen the relationship.

‍

“...it’s great to meet you and I’m grateful for the opportunity to support you. I know how serious my job is for you and never take every newly referred client for granted…”

“...it was such a pleasure to support you. I know you had many choice and options, so for you to have picked me, means everything to me, I am grateful for the opportunity…”

‍

That’s what gets people to gravitate towards you and to remember you, it’s the invincible sale. 

‍

And THAT is what drives long-term growth. 

‍

Gratitude = Leadership

‍

One of the simplest ways to elevate team performance?

‍

Tell the important people in your circle what you are specifically grateful for about them. 

‍

“...hey Suze, just want to tell you how grateful I am for your loyalty to me. I know it takes sacrifice to handle the occasional weekend Realtor calls and you always do with a great attitude, thank you.” 

‍

“...hey [Mr. Underwriter], I know you probably ONLY get phone calls from Loan Officers when they need something from you, but I am just calling you to say hi, to catch up and to tell you how grateful I am for your help on the [Jones File]...”‍

‍

Delivering spontaneous and specific gratitude is powerful.

‍

And do it in front of others.

‍

A one-line, specific and genuine message in a team huddle has 10x the impact of a motivational speech.

‍

Recognition builds morale. 

‍

Morale builds output.

‍

Gratitude = Momentum

‍

When you train yourself to notice what’s working, you start reinforcing the right behaviors.

‍

And when your energy shifts, your business shifts.

‍

Gratitude isn’t fluff.

‍

It’s fuel.

‍

People are attracted to grateful people. 

‍

And in a season where everyone’s “thankful,” this is your reminder:

‍

Don’t just feel it.

‍

Use it.

‍

GO! express gratitude to that one Realtor, Borrower, Underwriter, Closer, etc.

‍

You never know, it may have been exactly what they needed to hear.
