There are 5 tiny habits that reveal who you actually are
|
September 5, 2026

You want to know what someone is really made of?
Don't look at their resume or their income, and definitely don't look at their followers.
Look at how they behave when they think it doesn't matter.
I’ve got 5 things that tell me almost everything I need to know about a person:
- Do they take the stairs or the elevator?
- Do they return their grocery cart or leave it in the lot?
- What kind of notifications light up their phone?
- Do they say please and thank you without thinking about it?
- Do they follow up on the little promises they make?
These are pretty small, nominal things I’ll admit. And most people would believe that none of these seem to matter.
But that's exactly why they do.
Taking the stairs means you're willing to do the harder thing when the easier thing is right there.
Returning the cart means you do the right thing when nobody's grading you on it.
Notifications tell you where their attention actually lives.
Manners aren't about being polite.
They're about being kind by default.
Following up on small promises means the person can be trusted with big ones.
Now flip this on yourself, because most people who read this will nod, agree, and think about someone else who needs to hear it.
The real work is asking: which of these five do I actually do?
If you can't answer that honestly, you have your first move.
Micro shifts compound into macro results.
Nobody becomes elite overnight.
They become elite by doing the smallest right thing, every single day, when nobody is watching or clapping.
You don't need a new coach, a new strategy, or a new CRM.
You need to take the stairs.
Return the cart.
Follow up on the thing you said you'd do.
Then do it again tomorrow.
The people winning long-term aren't the ones with the biggest breakthroughs. They're the ones with the smallest disciplines.
Character is currency.
Spend it wisely, and it multiplies.
